Igor Tudor has been unable to stop the rot at Tottenham Hotspur, but a doomsday scenario of finishing in the bottom three is not the ultimate nightmare.<\/h2>\n

There was a bit of good news for Tottenham Hotspur last week…they will have a few extra play-off spots in the Championship next season. It’s a tough league, but Spurs still have a chance of finishing eighth in the championship.<\/p>\n
Of course, they are not yet at that level, with bookmakers still narrowly backing West Ham United in third place in the relegation spot. However, having watched a lot of matches between both teams recently, it seems unusual for bookmakers to make that mistake.<\/p>\n
Even in a crushing 5-2 defeat at Anfield, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side looked better than the side who lost three of their three games under the hapless manager Igor Tudor. This is a strange appointment to begin with, and there are not many fans, experts, or neutrals who think the already temporary Tudor dynasty should last a little longer.<\/p>\n

That’s completely understandable. When former players and supporters were advocating for Harry Redknapp to leave after Thomas Frank’s sacking, I thought the idea was laughable. I love Harry, but he recently turned 79 years old.<\/p>\n
But having just spent some time with Harry at the training ground as his horse The Jukebox Man prepares to tip in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, I think he has as good a chance as anyone to keep Spurs in the Premier League. Because, frankly, the squad at any manager’s disposal (which, as always has to be said, is greatly weakened by rotten injury luck) doesn’t look like it’s going to be good enough to win a Premier League game between now and the end of the season.<\/p>\n
And this is the team that will surely see Atletico Madrid advance to the last 16 of the Champions League in the next week or so. But whoever takes charge of Spurs’ final nine games of the Premier League season – the first of which is played at Anfield next Sunday – will have to do a tough job to keep the team afloat.<\/p>\n

But what happens if Spurs are relegated? The club won’t go out of business.<\/p>\n
There are a lot of clich\u00e9s about teams fighting for relegation. There are some things that are “too good to be true”. And sometimes relegation is the best thing that can happen.<\/p>\n
Well, the latter doesn’t apply to the Spurs at all, but it won’t be the disaster that the doommongers are portraying. Looking at the bigger picture, supporters will probably see more entertaining football this season than what the Premier League has to offer.<\/p>\n
They will see more wins and more goals. Over the past two seasons, Spurs fans have seen their team win just eight of their 33 Premier League home games.<\/p>\n

Getting a win in the home season would be a nice change. There may be other spin-offs as well. Might eliminate some of the many players who are showing off too much.<\/p>\n
Oh, and no VAR. Imagine the joy! Of course, half of this is frivolity. Relegation is not a positive thing for a club as prestigious as Tottenham.<\/p>\n
But it doesn’t have to be apocalyptic either. And remember, they need to finish eighth next season to have any chance of redemption.<\/p>\n
