Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer had different opinions on George Dobson’s red card during Wrexham’s FA Cup defeat to Chelsea. Dobson was sent off in the 93rd minute following a VAR review, and Chelsea scored twice in extra time to build a numerical advantage and win 4-2.<\/p>\n
The Wrexham midfielder was initially shown a yellow card after bringing down Alejandro Garnacho to deny Chelsea a break late in normal time. However, referee Peter Banks was sent to the pitchside monitor by VAR Paul Howard and upgraded the card to a red.<\/p>\n
Dobson caught the Chelsea winger’s shin, but his challenge was deemed to be forceful and therefore endangered his opponent. BBC\u306e\u53d6\u6750\u8981\u8acb\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u306f\u591a\u304f\u306e\u8b70\u8ad6\u304c\u3042\u3063\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n
Former Wrexham defender Ben Tozer said: “It’s the right decision.” “Listen, he thinks I need to slow the play down and take a sensible yellow card, so I have to foul him. Unfortunately, he catches[him]and Wayne actually thought it was a good tackle, which I thought was ironic. He has to foul him, but it’s a red card. His stud stuck in the side of his shin. For me, that’s a red card.”<\/p>\n

But when asked if he thought the yellow card was the right call, Rooney said: “Yeah, I think so. It was a little high and that’s about it. It’s not like he has straight legs and full studs. I’m not too confident.”<\/p>\n
And Mr. Tozer said, “It’s like a dark orange thing, right? That’s one of those things. When both managers were asked for their opinions after the game, their decisions were mixed. Wrexham’s Phil Parkinson told TNT Sport: “This is my first experience with VAR and I thought it had to be clear and unambiguous to change a decision.” “Dobbo came in forcefully. The referee was in a good position to see it. He scraped the skin and caught it at the bottom. I think he could have easily left it with a yellow and in my opinion VAR should not have interfered with that.”<\/p>\n
“I think anyone watching this will think this is a tough call and if it’s a tough call then you should stick to the original decision. So yeah, it’s our first taste of VAR on a racecourse field and it obviously hurts that it’s having such an impact tonight.”<\/p>\n
