They now have 48 points in the Premier League, just three behind third-placed Aston Villa. They also have a three-point lead over Chelsea and Liverpool.<\/div>\n<p>Sesco&#8217;s goalscoring form continued, with him scoring five goals in the Premier League in 2026. No player in the league this calendar year has scored more non-penalty goals than the Slovenian.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a great finish. It was a relentless finish,&#8221; Carrick said. &#8220;I liked the way he scored with real confidence. He set it up with some great play from (Mateus) Cunha and (Brian) Mbeumo and we were in a dangerous situation during the break. I&#8217;m trying to help the team, because that&#8217;s why I&#8217;m here. It doesn&#8217;t matter if I only have five minutes or 90 minutes. I just need to show that I can deliver as much as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps even more impressive than scoring that crucial goal was United&#8217;s resilience in the face of constant pressure from Everton&#8217;s aerial attack.<\/p>\n<p>Everton had 10 corners, many of which had the majority of their players crowding around United goalkeeper Senne Lamence, trying to cause him to make a mistake.<\/p>\n<p>But Lamence and his defense rose to the task and earned a clean sheet in the win. It was United&#8217;s first away clean sheet in the Premier League since March last year.<\/p>\n<p>Ramens told Sky Sports the victory was built on &#8220;hard work&#8221; and a &#8220;cohesive defence&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know we didn&#8217;t play our best, especially in the first half, but it was difficult, but we have players who can make a difference if we work together and don&#8217;t concede goals,&#8221; said the Belgian goalkeeper. \u201cWe had one flash and one counter, but if we can maintain zero, we can win this tough away match.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are a strong physical team and their defense is very big, so we knew it would be difficult on set pieces. That (corner defense) is my strength, so I&#8217;m glad I was able to help the team today.
