Manager Thomas Tuchel said England had an “incredible chance” of success after signing a new two-year deal. The Football Association has signed a new contract with the England national team manager that will allow him to play beyond this summer’s World Cup and through to his home Euros in 2028.

England manager Tuchel guided the Three Lions to a perfect qualification for the World Cup and the 52-year-old was full of praise for the support of the FA and chief executive Mark Bullingham. Manager Tuchel said: “I am very happy and proud to be able to extend my stay in England.

“It’s no secret that I’ve loved every minute of working with the players and coaches. I can’t wait to lead them to the World Cup. This is a great opportunity and we will do our best to make our country proud.”

“I’ve had so much support from Mark, all my colleagues at the FA and fans everywhere, so I didn’t hesitate when I was asked to continue with this dream job. EURO 2028 is going to be a very special tournament and as a manager there’s nothing I want more than to compete against the best players on the biggest stage possible.”

Tuchel’s core support team of Anthony Barry, Enrique Hilario, Nico Mayer and James Melbourne have also signed new contracts until the summer of 2028. Bullingham added: “I’m delighted that Thomas has committed to being with us until the 2028 Euros.”

“There is no better candidate in world football. With his experience, knowledge and passion for the big game, he gives the team the best chance of success, as we prepare for the once-in-a-generation Euros this summer and here in two years’ time.”

“Thomas, Anthony and the wider team have the perfect blend of British coaching and international expertise. They remain committed to achieving the best possible results this summer and securing them early for 2028 has removed the potential disruption of contract renegotiations during the tournament.”
