Eddie Howe said on Monday he would step down as Newcastle manager if he felt he was not suitable for the job.<\/p>\n
Thomas Frank should take a look at his opponents’ numbers, but that may not be necessary given Tottenham have 12 days off before the North London derby against Arsenal on February 22nd.<\/p>\n
Goals in either half of Malik Tiau and Jacob Ramsey (Spurs’ Archie Gray equalized) did the damage, while loud chants for fan favorite Mauricio Pochettino rang out from the South Stand.<\/p>\n
With the home fans also demanding Frank’s head, the Europa League winners desperate for refreshment and in real danger of being dragged into a relegation battle, it’s finally time for Tottenham to put the Dane out of his misery.<\/p>\n
They are yet to win a Premier League game in 2026 and are currently eight games without a win, but based on recent evidence it is impossible to say with any degree of certainty that they will do too well or fall too far.<\/p>\n

Newcastle had won just two of their last 15 away top-flight games, but this victory looked like a formality from the first whistle.<\/p>\n
A rain-soaked Frank looked like a devastated man as he trudged off the pitch at full-time, but regardless of what happens next, it is scandalous that he received no real support in the January transfer window.<\/p>\n
Spurs were without 11 first-team players in the defeat, 10 of them through injury, with captain Cristian Romero suspended and now without Wilson Odbert with a serious knee problem.<\/p>\n
Tottenham’s nerves were evident in the early exchanges when Anthony Elanga’s corner kick bounced off Radu Dragusin’s knee and narrowly went over the crossbar.<\/p>\n

Guglielmo Vicario then fluttered a high ball that looked like it could have been easily caught, prompting a chorus of boos.<\/p>\n
The suffering for Spurs supporters didn’t stop there, with Newcastle winning an astonishing nine corners within the first 30 minutes.<\/p>\n
Tottenham were unable to contain Dominic Solanke’s penalty screams, but their desperation was compounded after they spent much of the first half trapped in their own half and Papu Matar Sarr was called on for an unnecessary dive.<\/p>\n
Minutes after Joe Willock looked like he had scored the first goal, the goal was ruled out after a VAR review for fractional offside, but unsurprisingly Newcastle took the lead.<\/p>\n
Thiau met Willock’s curling cross and his header was saved by Vicario, but the German centre-back was on hand to convert the rebound into goal as Tottenham’s back line glared at each other.<\/p>\n

Newcastle played away to Tottenham and picked up three points.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Elanga had two penalty claims rejected and Archie Gray equalized for the hosts after Spurs weathered an early storm in the second half. Xavi Simmons, who was due to play in the simulation, then took a corner at the back post, which Sarr nodded across goal for Gray to turn in.<\/p>\n
Spurs’ hopes were short-lived, however, as Ramsey restored Newcastle’s lead with a commanding finish after some excellent work from Anthony Gordon seconds after Conor Gallagher scuppered a promising fightback.<\/p>\n
Although Micky van de Ven had a great chance to grab a point at the death, the hosts lacked the quality and confidence needed to find an equaliser.<\/p>\n
Incredibly, over the past 14 months Tottenham have won more European games (12 out of 18) than they have won in the Premier League (11 out of 49).<\/p>\n
It would be a remarkable show of faith if Vinay Venkatesham did not pull the trigger now. Who will be brave enough to willingly step into this devastating mess is anyone’s guess at this point.<\/p>\n
