NAPLES, Italy (AP) – As the injury crisis mounts, Napoli coach Antonio Conte will be relieved to hear that Giovanni Di Lorenzo has avoided serious knee ligament damage, meaning the team captain could be out for just a month.<\/p>\n

Di Lorenzo taken off the field on a stretcher<\/span> He was seen crying during the first half of Saturday’s Serie A match against Fiorentina and leaving the stadium on crutches.<\/p>\n

Conte said afterwards that medical staff were concerned that Di Lorenzo had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, which could mean the end of the season for Napoli’s Italian defender.<\/p>\n

but, Napoli announces tests will be carried out on Sunday<\/span> “It turned out he had a second-degree sprain in his left knee.”<\/p>\n

According to reports in Italian media, Di Lorenzo could return within four to five weeks, which is good news for Italy ahead of next month’s World Cup play-offs.<\/p>\n

Napoli have been plagued by injuries throughout the season, sometimes for long periods of time, and the following players have been absent: kevin de bruyne<\/span>, frank anguissa<\/span>David Neres, Billy Gilmore, Matteo Politano, Amir Rahmani.<\/p>\n

Another key player is Romelu Lukaku<\/span>only returned last weekend from a thigh injury sustained during a pre-season friendly.<\/p>\n
