It has been revealed how much tax the Premier League’s highest-paid stars, including Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah, pay.<\/h2>\n

Erling Haaland has paid around \u00a317m in tax over the past 12 months. The Norwegian, who reportedly earns a basic salary of \u00a3500,000 a week, tops the Sunday Times football tax list ahead of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.<\/p>\n
Haaland reportedly earned a further \u00a310m in image rights and bonus payments. The 25-year-old signed a new long-term contract with City in January last year until 2034.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mr Salah has paid \u00a314.5m in tax in the past 12 months. According to The Times, the Egyptian earns a basic salary of \u00a3400,000 a week, plus at least \u00a310 million a year in bonuses and image rights payments.<\/p>\n
This fact became clear during a difficult season for Salah. Salah said he no longer had a relationship with head coach Arne Slott, saying he was “thrown under the bus” after the draw with Leeds and was left out of the squad for the Champions League game against Inter Milan in December.<\/p>\n
Salah immediately rejoined the team after speaking with his manager and apologizing to his colleagues. Despite this, rumors linking him to a move to the Saudi Pro League remain persistent.<\/p>\n

The financial incentive for such transfers is clear for two reasons. One is the eye-watering salary on offer to star Cristiano Ronaldo, and the other is the fact that there is no income tax in Saudi Arabia on a footballer’s income, while in the UK salaries above \u00a3125,000 are subject to 45 per cent income tax.<\/p>\n

Third on the list is Manchester United’s Casemiro on \u00a310.9m. United announced last week that Casemiro would leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
Raheem Sterling, who terminated his contract with Chelsea by mutual consent on Wednesday, made a \u00a39.8m tax contribution. This was \u00a3100,000 more than Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.<\/p>\n
Manchester United and Manchester City’s Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva were on par at \u00a39m each.<\/p>\n

Topping the tax list was bookmaker Betfred, which contributed \u00a3400m to the public purse, the equivalent of around \u00a31.1m a day. Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran and Anthony Joshua also join Salah in the top 100.<\/p>\n
After the report was published, a Treasury spokesperson said: “The UK remains an attractive place to live, invest and run a business, with a highly progressive tax system.”<\/p>\n
\u201cOur tax-to-GDP ratio and major capital gains tax rate are lower than other European G7 countries, and our headline corporate tax rate is capped at 25% for the remainder of this parliament, the lowest in the G7.\u201d<\/p>\n
