Hellas Verona defender and Granada goalkeeper Zidane, the 27-year-old son of French great Zinedine Zidane, will serve his suspension in order to qualify for the 2027 AFCON. Algeria&#8217;s qualifying group begins in September.<\/p>\n<p>After losing 2-0 to Nigeria in the quarter-finals in Marrakech, Morocco on January 10, Algerian players and staff were involved in an on-field skirmish.<\/p>\n<p>The match&#8217;s referee, Issa Sy, was protected from angry Algerian staff and escorted off the field.<\/p>\n<p>The Algerian federation announced that the $100,000 total fine includes charges of misconduct by players and staff, fans attempting to break through safety barriers and fans &#8220;displaying banknotes&#8221; to match officials.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2026 World Cup, Algeria will face defending champion Argentina on June 16 in Kansas City.
