Donald Trump brushes off heckler at Ford factory, sparking furious reaction online<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nThe Department of Homeland Security said the operative was acting in self-defense, but the Trump administration called Good a “domestic terrorist.” The killing has since sparked protests in multiple cities and sharp reactions from people in the sports world and society at large, including NBA head coach Steve Kerr.<\/p>\n
Rapinoe, a longtime critic of Donald Trump, addressed the issue on her podcast, “A Touch More,” and framed the shooting as part of a broader and deeply concerning pattern.<\/p>\n
“I think this was an anomaly while the Trump administration has been doing these raids and disappearing people,” Rapinoe said.<\/p>\n
“They’re taking people’s phones out of their hands. It’s legal. They’re basically threatening people, not protesting, not tracking what they’re doing. That’s a lot of what’s happening in Minneapolis.”<\/p>\n
“The community is coming out and keeping an eye on ICE, but where are they? They’re trying to block immigration raids and trample on our people in what we think are very illegal practices.”<\/p>\n
Rapinoe calls for accountability and public backlash<\/h2>\n
Rapinoe said the human cost of the shooting should not be lost in the political debate, emphasizing the impact on Good’s family and community.<\/p>\n
“It’s really sad. Of course our hearts go out to Renee Goode’s family, her community and everyone who loved and supported her,” she said.<\/p>\n
“This is so out of the norm and so beyond what is acceptable. I think we’re all seeing that. And I hope that the proverbial people will always, and in whatever form it takes, whether it’s a midterm election or an election, stand up in the streets and say this is not what we want, this is not what we think is acceptable.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
