Wayne Rooney has told Manchester United to make Thomas Tuchel their next permanent manager.<\/p>\n

United have appointed Michael Carrick on an interim basis until the end of the season. Club owners the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are considering appointing a full-time manager in the summer.<\/p>\n

Tuchel, Carlo Ancelotti, Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino and Xabi Alonso are all attracting United’s attention. But United legend Rooney believes his former club need to sign Tuchel.<\/p>\n

The German manager will manage England at this summer’s World Cup, but is expected to step down after the tournament.<\/p>\n

This means Tuchel will be available for free, but Rooney believes he is the right choice to help United get back on track.<\/p>\n

He said on the Wayne Rooney Show: \u201cAlonso had a great performance at (Bayer) Leverkusen and I think there are more chances for him to sit in the slot and wait for him (Liverpool manager Ahne) to look forward to it.<\/p>\n

“Tuchel is the best player for me. He knows the Premier League, he has won trophies, he has done well in England. Time will tell.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rooney supports Carrick’s future at United and believes he is the right choice at the moment.<\/p>\n

Rooney and Carrick were teammates at Old Trafford, playing together 366 times and winning five Premier League titles.<\/p>\n

Rooney added: “I don’t think we have a top class top manager at the moment so this is probably the obvious choice.”<\/p>\n

“I think it’s the right choice at the moment. Of course it’s a difficult task. The current situation at Manchester United is not a good place, so Michael has to come in and steady the ship.”<\/p>\n
