My focus now is to help our players reach the standards we expect at this great club, and I know this team is more than capable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have already worked with some of the players and have naturally continued to follow the team closely in recent years. I have full faith in their talent, dedication and ability to succeed here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is still much to compete for this season. We are ready to bring everyone together and give the performance that our fans&#8217; loyal support deserves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Supporting Carrick will be Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Travis Binion, Jonny Evans and Craig Mawson.<\/p>\n<p>Darren Fletcher, who briefly took charge during United&#8217;s Premier League draw with Burnley and FA Cup third-round defeat against Brighton, will return to his role as lead coach of the club&#8217;s under-18s.<\/p>\n<p>United&#8217;s director of football, Jason Wilcox, said: &#8220;Michael is a great coach and knows exactly what it takes to win at Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is ready to lead our talented and determined group of players for the remainder of the season as we continue to build the club towards regular and sustained success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During his time at Old Trafford, Carrick won five Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, two FA Cups and two Carabao Cups.<\/p>\n<p>After retiring in 2018, he worked as a first-team coach under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, before taking over as interim manager for the first time in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Carrick is expected to be in the dugout at Old Trafford for Saturday&#8217;s Premier League derby after being considered ahead of Solskjaer following talks with the club&#8217;s chief executive Omar Berrada and Wilcox.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<div class=\"wrap-anywhere typo-tk-rs-body-md text-content-block-default-text-fill-01\" data-testid=\"body-paragraph\">Stream the Premier League, Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s FA Cups, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League and more on TNT Sports and Discovery+<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tntsports.co.uk\/football\/premier-league\/2025-2026\/manchester-united-appoint-michael-carrick-caretaker-head-coach-end-of-season_sto23258193\/story.shtml\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Highlights: Brighton&#8217;s Welbeck star sent off against Manchester United Video credit: TNT Sports Michael Carrick has been appointed interim head coach of Manchester United until the end of the season.
