T<\/span>The 2026 World Cup is fast approaching and everyone is taking it for granted that Lionel Messi will take part in the tournament, but the Argentine player does not accept it and it seems that doubts still remain. His coach Lionel Scaloni spoke to AFA Estudio and gave an insight into his star player’s future.<\/p>\nScaloni has always been very calm and doesn’t seek the limelight, so it was newsworthy to see him speak on so many topics before the World Cup, and he also admitted to having met Messi in person.<\/p>\n

Mr. Scaloni acknowledged that he had already been criticized for some of the photos, but that was not the point. The coach met with several players, but it was his meeting with Messi that attracted the most attention. “When I saw the images in the photos, I was a little irritated. I ate Alphaphor and went for coffee, and they accused me… But, as I say, I don’t have to deny it because I have talked to other people, sometimes on video calls and sometimes in person.”<\/p>\n

Lionel Scaloni<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\nRegarding Messi’s presence at the World Cup, Scaloni explained that there is no need to put pressure on him and that he will wait and see. “We talked about a lot of things, but we didn’t talk about it (the World Cup) because there’s still time. And we don’t want to overwhelm him, we want to leave him alone and let him make the decisions he has to make. And with that in mind, we’ll think about the interests of the team.”<\/p>\n
