FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) – Second-place Borussia Dortmund twice surrendered the lead and looked like they would lose to a stoppage-time winner, but they made a last-minute comeback to draw 3-3 with Eintracht Frankfurt in a thrilling Bundesliga clash on Friday.<\/p>\n

The first league match of 2026 was an attractive advertisement for German football, but both teams will regret holding onto the lead.<\/p>\n

The draw leaves Dortmund in second place, eight points behind leaders Bayern Munich and four points behind Bayer Leverkusen and Leipzig. All three have game.<\/p>\n

Frankfurt missed the chance to move up to fifth place and remained in seventh place, tied with Stuttgart on points.<\/p>\n

The match got off to an encouraging start for the visiting team in the 10th minute when Maximilian Baier side-footed a cross from Julian Ryerson from the right.<\/p>\n

But on a cold night at Deutsche Bank Park, home fans were warmed by their team’s response. Kang Uzun scored the equalizing goal from the penalty spot after Selhou Guirassy was adjudged to have fouled Robin Koch.<\/p>\n

Dortmund took the lead again midway through the second half when Felix Nmeka’s deflected shot rolled into the far post.<\/p>\n

Frankfurt struck back three minutes later. Arnaud Karimendo’s defence-cutting pass found Younes Ebounotalib and he kept his cool to slot the ball past Gregor Kobel.<\/p>\n

Frankfurt took the lead for the first time in the second minute of second-half stoppage time when Mahmoud Dahoud scored, but Carney Chukwuemeka converted a loose ball into the goal with almost the last kick of the game in the fourth minute.<\/p>\n
