STRASBOURG, France (AP) \u2014 french league<\/span> The Strasbourg club appointed Gary O’Neill as their replacement coach on Wednesday. liam rosenia<\/span>left for Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Strasbourg announced that O’Neill will oversee the first training session on Thursday before taking charge of the squad ahead of Saturday’s French Cup clash with Avranches. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.<\/p>\n

O’Neill said: “I’m proud to be joining this great club and can’t wait to get started.” “We have a very high-quality team and we have clear and ambitious goals for the season. My priority is to work hard with the team and do everything I can to help the club succeed.”<\/p>\n

His appointment was announced a day after Chelsea appointed Rosenior on a six-year contract. Strasbourg finished seventh in the top flight and qualified for the final round of the UEFA Conference League.<\/p>\n

Rosenior’s departure infuriated fans opposed to the multi-club ownership model, amid calls for Chairman Mark Keller to resign. Strasbourg have been owned by Chelsea owner Bruco since 2023.<\/p>\n

“Horse racing has a unique history, extraordinary passion, great resilience and, of course, loyal supporters who want to see this team play attractive football and succeed,” O’Neill added.<\/p>\n
