The Portuguese manager will end his tenure in the Old Trafford dugout after 14 months in charge. Former United player Darren Fletcher, who previously coached the Red Devils Under-18s, has taken over the first team on an interim basis and will be on the bench for Wednesday&#8217;s game against Burnley.<\/p>\n<p>Amorim was appointed Manchester United manager in November 2024 and led the team to the Europa League final, although they lost the title to Tottenham.<\/p>\n<p>The Portuguese manager&#8217;s last game in charge of United was a 1-1 draw with Leeds on Sunday, after which he made prescient comments: &#8220;I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the manager of Manchester United.&#8221; That&#8217;s clear. I know my name isn&#8217;t Tuchel or Conte or Mourinho, but I&#8217;m the manager of Manchester United. And that&#8217;s going to be the case for 18 months, or until then.&#8221;The board decided to change that. I want to finish this.
