In Europe, the Champions League has a much bigger top prize for national teams than the European Championship. The top prize at last year’s Euros was 28.5 million euros ($33.5 million). Real Madrid will receive approximately $154 million<\/span> In the same year, they won the Champions League. Both competitions are run by European football governing body UEFA.<\/p>\nFIFA approved the World Cup prize money at its board meeting in Doha. In March, it projected revenue of $13 billion over the current four years through 2026. 7.5 billion dollars in 2019-22<\/span>.<\/p>\nThe 48 national federations participating in the expanded 2026 World Cup will each receive $1.5 million in preparation costs and $9 million in group stage participation fees, similar to the 2022 tournament. <\/p>\n
Teams that advance to the new round of 32 will earn $11 million, and teams that advance to the round of 16 will earn $15 million. The country that advances to the quarterfinals will receive $19 million, the fourth-place team $27 million, the third-place team $29 million, and the final loser $33 million.<\/p>\n
FIFA will distribute $727 million, including participation fees, to 48 federations.<\/p>\n
Each federation decides how much to pay its players. French sports daily L’Equipe reported that French players will receive a $586,000 bonus from the federation if they win the trophy in 2022. France ultimately lost to Argentina in the final.<\/p>\n
The 2022 collective bargaining agreement signed by the U.S. Soccer Federation with the men’s and women’s national team unions calls for prize money to be pooled in 2026 for the men’s team and 2027 for the women’s team, with 80% of the money distributed to players.<\/p>\n
