KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia (AP) – Brendan Rodgers has returned to soccer after a six-week hiatus as coach of Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsair. resign<\/span> From Scottish Champions Celtic.<\/p>\n

Al Qadosia, whose squad includes Italian striker Matteo Letegui and former Real Madrid defender Fernandez Nacho, are fifth in the Saudi Pro League in their first season after promotion.<\/p>\n

Rodgers left Celtic on 27 October in doubt, but his second spell in charge was marred by scathing criticism from majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, who called Rodgers’ actions “divisive, misleading and self-serving” and “fostered a toxic atmosphere around the club”.<\/p>\n

He has previously managed Liverpool, Leicester and Swansea, and this is the first time he has chosen to continue his managerial career outside the UK.<\/p>\n

In a statement announcing Rodgers’ appointment on Tuesday, Al Qadsiah described him as a “world-renowned coach” and said his appointment “reflects the club’s ambitious vision and rapidly growing sporting project”.<\/p>\n

Saudi state-owned oil giant Aramco bought Al Qadsia in 2023, helping to transform the club’s standing.<\/p>\n

Al Qadosia chief executive James Bisgrove said: “This is a landmark moment for the club.” “His experience and winning track record reflect our ambition and long-term vision to establish Al Qadisia as one of Asia’s leading clubs.”<\/p>\n

Rodgers won back-to-back Scottish League titles with Celtic, winning 11 major trophies in two seasons. He also won the FA Cup with Leicester.<\/p>\n

Al Kadosia’s last two coaches were former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler and former Spain midfielder Michel.<\/p>\n
