NEW YORK, Switzerland (AP) – Bayern Munich forward Luis Diaz’s three-game Champions League suspension was reduced to two on appeal after a reckless foul on Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi.<\/p>\n

UEFA announced on Friday that Diaz’s appeal on charges of “serious rough play” had been successful, without giving reasons. <\/p>\n

That means he is still missing Bayern’s Champions League home game against Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday, but could return for next month’s game against Union Saint Giroise in Belgium.<\/p>\n

Diaz was sent off after scoring two goals. An eventful 2-1 victory<\/span> Last month’s match against PSG. He made a fierce lunge from behind, and Hakimi’s left leg appeared to be caught momentarily before falling.<\/p>\n

Unlike Cristiano Ronaldo, Diaz will have to serve more than the mandatory minimum one-game sanction in case of a red card. <\/p>\n

in unusual decision<\/span> Last month, FIFA handed the Portuguese superstar a three-match ban, with two of the matches suspended, for a serious incident of foul play against Ireland. That means it seems unlikely that he will miss a match when his sixth World Cup begins next year, the most in his career.<\/p>\n
