Tottenham manager Thomas Frank made the unwise decision to address Spurs fans following the defeat to Fulham, but it could have cost him dearly.

Thomas Frank has taken a step down a very dangerous path following Tottenham’s recent setbacks.

It was a grave mistake for Spurs fans in the stadium to blame Guglielmo Vicario for booing him after the Tottenham keeper’s blunder against Fulham.

You can call out to your fans. Please ask me to speak louder. Try to inspire them for the benefit of the team. However, once you go head-to-head with your supporters, you will have a long way to go.

And calling into question whether they are ‘true Tottenham fans’ is a serious own goal. It also adds two more pressures and question marks from the same supporters, which he needs more than ever.

Frank told Sky Sports after the match: “I didn’t like that the fans booed him (Vicario) right after the game and he even touched the ball a few times. They can’t be real Tottenham fans because when you’re on the pitch you all support each other.”

This is what a true fan looks like. These are fans who think about their team every waking moment. After two disappointing defeats against Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, we came into the game hoping to see a better performance.

They spend thousands of pounds every season on tickets, travel, programs and bloody club shirts. Honestly, it’s really bad behavior to ask the fans in that stadium.

And yes, I saw him trying to explain the comment afterwards. I don’t know if I can do it.

I think there’s a difference between fans going to games and fans on social media. Of course they have the right to view it. But if there is a hate campaign against Brennan Johnson, for example, please denounce it.

After deleting his Instagram account, Johnson quickly hit his stride on the pitch. Seriously, who needs that?

Personally, I’ve never found booing helpful. Yes, I was a fan (believe it or not), but I don’t like people who boo. I’m behind the team. Especially during those sacred 90 minutes.

Boo them at halftime. Full time if needed. However, do not do it during the game or turn on the player.

Vicario was booed by Spurs fans after his mistake(Image: Getty Images)

Frank would have had every right to say I want the fans to support Vicario. In these difficult times, we need you now more than ever. It’s true to the script.

But this line about true fans really stuck with me. Some fans may agree with Frank’s opinion. But I know there are some people who don’t like it one bit – by the way, they don’t agree with the boos.

Earlier this season, manager Thomas Tuchel criticized England fans for not being vocal enough during the game against Wales at Wembley. At the next match, they played him a friendly joke. They’ll probably never love him for it, but no harm was done.

why? Because he never questioned their dedication or whether they were “true fans.” He just wanted the volume to be turned up.

I have to say it felt like Frank was having a hard time. They were beaten by Arsenal and three days later lost 5-3 to Paris Saint-Germain. Actually, I think he did well against PSG.

The content of the interview was very relatable. positive etc. Well, they conceded five goals. Yes, it was PSG, but they weren’t the best. And Frank was talking about how divine his performance was that day in the game. That was strange. They had just scored five goals.

I thought the team was better than what it was. But Frank needs a turnaround, and it’s fast. And he needs those fans on his side. Questioning their support is not the way to solve it.
