BOLOGNA, Italy (AP) – Bologna’s 12-game unbeaten run came to an ignominious end on Monday as Jamie Vardy scored his first Serie A double in a 3-1 home loss to Cremonese.<\/p>\n
This game pitted the home team, who were undefeated in 12 games, against the visiting team, who had lost their last three league games by a combined score of 6-2.<\/p>\n
However, it was the Cremonese who attacked first after half an hour. Matteo Bianchetti’s cool through ball brought Martin Paello close to the goal, and his solid shot gave the goalkeeper no chance.<\/p>\n
Four minutes later, Jamie Vardy made it 2-0 with a carbon copy of the opener. Federico Bonazzoli’s pass freed him from the lead four and he calmly slotted home from almost the same position as Paello.<\/p>\n
Bologna got a goal from the penalty spot just before half-time through Riccardo Orsolini, but Vardy, who signed this summer from Leicester City, broke into the near post five minutes into the second half and curled in an inviting cross from the right to restore Cremonese’s chance for two points.<\/p>\n
It was a high night for Vardy, who was reportedly the victim of a robbery last week.<\/p>\n
According to British media, thieves broke into the player’s home near Lake Garda and took away valuables worth \u00a380,000 while he was playing in a league match for Roma.<\/p>\n
This result was also a boost for his club. Cremonese won the first two games of the campaign, but only won one game after that. In Monday’s results, he moved up two places to 11th place.<\/p>\n
Bologna fell to 6th place behind Como on goal difference. <\/p>\n
It was the first time that Vincenzo Italiano’s side had conceded three goals in a game all season.<\/p>\n
