Greenwood left Old Trafford in 2023 after a six-month search and has been plying his trade at Marseille ever since.<\/p>\n<p>Since moving to France, the 24-year-old has made a huge impact at Marseille, making 54 appearances so far. His performances have attracted attention, with Calcio Mercato reporting that Napoli are one of several clubs interested. However, signing him from Marseille did not come cheap, with the French club reportedly valuing him at more than \u20ac60 million (approximately \u00a353 million). According to The Athletic, Antonio Conte&#8217;s Napoli made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Greenwood before moving to Marseille.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>It remains to be seen whether Napoli will reignite their pursuit. However, if a move goes through, Greenwood could end up playing alongside former team-mates Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojland. The latter is currently on a season-long loan at Napoli, and his contract includes a \u00a338m clause that would make him a permanent transfer if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>Both players have come to prominence in Italy, with McTominay becoming a key figure in midfield. He was also named the best player of the 2024\/25 season. As for Greenwood, he has become an integral part of Roberto De Zerbi&#8217;s squad at the Orange Velodrome, making a potential January move a difficult proposition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;He has the qualities to be one of the best players in the world,&#8221; said the Italian coach. &#8220;He&#8217;s incredibly talented, but he needs to help the team even more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to protect him because I don&#8217;t like to see him criticized.
