Manchester United academy graduate Toby Collier has endured a nightmare loan spell at Championship side West Bromwich Albion, but looks set to be out for an even longer period of time.<\/h2>\n

Manchester United academy product Toby Collier continues to suffer setbacks due to major injuries, including a lingering hamstring injury. The 21-year-old joined Championship side West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan deal in the summer.<\/p>\n
The midfielder has been limited to just three starts in the Championship so far this season due to a hamstring injury. Collier returned earlier this month and was even deemed fit enough to start against Birmingham City on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
However, Collier’s return to the starting lineup lasted only 11 minutes before he was forced to leave the game with another issue. And West Brom manager Ryan Mason insisted his problem was a recurrence of an injury that has plagued him in recent years.<\/p>\n
“Yes, it’s a muscle injury,” Mason said. “I think it’s a challenge for him and it’s unfortunate.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast season he had a few games under his belt at Man United, so this season I was very patient with him because I wanted to give him the best opportunity to develop to suit the demands of this league.\u201d<\/p>\n

“But it’s unfortunate that something happens after 10 minutes. It looks like (a hamstring problem). We’ll evaluate him in the next few days and see where we are.”<\/p>\n
Collier’s problems are another blow to the midfielder’s hopes of adding much-needed experience to his resume. Mason said earlier this month. “Toby is a young player but we’re going to need him and we know he’s going to help us. I’ve wanted Toby for a few weeks now. He’s someone I really believe in and that’s important and I have that belief in all of my players.”<\/p>\n
“But I think when you go on loan somewhere you need to feel like you are wanted by the club and the manager and he certainly is. I hope we can help him because if we can help him improve and develop as a player it will definitely be beneficial for us.”<\/p>\n

“I think there’s a lot of room for growth and development. That’s definitely going to happen on the training pitch. The reality is that the game is the best teacher.”<\/p>\n
“The more exposure you have to the game, the better, especially when you’re young. I’m sure Toby knows that I believe in him, and I expect that. That’s very important to me.”<\/p>\n
“I’m going to put a lot of energy into him. I’m going to put the same amount of energy into him that I put into the other players and help them grow and get better.”<\/p>\n
Collier, an England Under-20 international, broke into United’s first team last season. He made 13 appearances under current manager Ruben Amorim, before making a temporary move to the Hawthorns earlier this season.<\/p>\n
