LIMASOL, Cyprus (AP) – On Wednesday, 38-year-old David Luiz scored his first Champions League goal in more than eight years.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian defender, who played for Paphos and still sports his trademark curly hair, soared in a corner and fired a powerful header into the top corner of Monaco’s goal. They tied the score at 1-1 in the 18th minute.<\/p>\n

He last scored in this competition in October 2017, in his second season with Chelsea, in a 3-3 draw with Roma at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

He was a key player in the Chelsea team that won the Champions League title in 2012, and then went on to play for Paris Saint-Germain. His Champions League debut took place in 2007 with Benfica.<\/p>\n

David Luiz returned to Europe in August after four seasons in Brazil and will make his major tournament debut with Cypriot champions Paphos.<\/p>\n
