For weeks, rumors have been circulating that Richard Ledesma has turned down the opportunity to play for Mexico, which caused his name to disappear from the national team’s radar. This version shows that manager Javier Aguirre wanted a fully committed player and the Chivas full-back did not give clear signals about his position. But now, the player himself has decided to put an end to that speculation.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Cancha, Ledesma not only denied the Mexican national team’s refusal, but also admitted that he is willing to fight for a spot in the World Cup. The player frankly expressed the excitement he feels to represent Mexico.<\/p>\n

Actually, my dream is to go to the World Cup if I can. I’ve never been there, but to tell you the truth, I would love to represent Mexico. If we have a good league with Chivas, I think we can participate in the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Ledesma<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although powerful, this message seems to have arrived very late. That’s because, with the World Cup just around the corner, it’s unlikely that coach Javier Aguirre will decide to use players he hasn’t previously selected.<\/p>\n

Who is Richard Ledesma?<\/h2>\n

Richard Ledesma, 25, was born in Phoenix but has dual citizenship due to his Mexican ancestry, plays for Chivas and could represent Mexico’s national team if coach Javier Aguirre decides to do so.<\/p>\n

What are the real chances that Richard Ledesma will make it to the World Cup?<\/h2>\n

Chivas have made notable progress in this tournament compared to recent past tournaments, but are still far from being considered one of the favorites to win the title.<\/p>\n

Ledesma was an integral part of Gabriel Milito’s tactical scheme, appearing in 15 games and providing six assists.<\/p>\n

Ledesma previously played as an attacking midfielder, but there appears to be no vacancy in this position as the Mexican coach appears to have reserved the position for Alvaro Fidalgo.<\/p>\n

However, he has established himself as a right-back at Chivas and could be on the final list. If Guadalajara continues to accumulate good results in Liguilla, all the better.<\/p>\n

“My teammates told me it’s not bad to play for the national team, and I told them I’m more ready than ever. Let’s see when it’s my turn,” Ledesma said.<\/p>\n

This internal support could be a further boost to convince the Mexican coaching staff, especially if his good form in the Guadalajara team is combined with the current El Tori full-back’s poor performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
