Championship side Leicester City are set to face a hearing over alleged breaches of Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) rules for the 2023\/24 season.<\/h2>\n

Leicester City’s latest legal battle with the Premier League is reportedly set to begin next week. The Championship side is said to be contesting the three new charges and will face a hearing.<\/p>\n
The Telegraph reports that Leicester are suspected of breaching Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) regulations for the 2023-24 season, which was their last appearance in the Championship. The Premier League announced the charges in May, while Leicester were also accused of failing to submit their annual accounts by the December 31 deadline.<\/p>\n
There was a further charge for breaching its “duty to provide full, complete and prompt assistance to the Premier League”. Leicester could face several penalties if the charges are upheld by an independent disciplinary committee.<\/p>\n

Possible penalties range from demerit points to fines and transfer bans. Leicester’s legal dispute with the Premier League has been going on for more than 18 months.<\/p>\n
The Foxes secured an appeal against their first alleged PSR breach in September last year when a panel ruled the Premier League had no power to punish Leicester. The committee found that they were relegated to the Championship when the financial period ended on 30 June 2023.<\/p>\n
Renowned sports lawyer Nick De Marco and his team at Blackstone Chambers successfully represented Leicester in that case. He plans to represent them at next week’s hearing.<\/p>\n
It is unclear when Leicester will learn the outcome of this hearing. However, a final verdict is not expected until the end of this year at the earliest.<\/p>\n
Leicester lost at home to Liverpool in April, sealing their relegation from the Premier League. They finished the season in 18th place, gaining only 25 points in 38 games.<\/p>\n

No Premier League clubs were penalized during the 2024\/25 season, but penalties were handed out during the previous season.<\/p>\n
Everton’s 10-point penalty was a competition record at the time, but it was later reduced to six points on appeal, and the Merseyside club was deducted a further two points later in the same season.<\/p>\n
Nottingham Forest found themselves four points behind and lost their appeal against the penalty. However, Everton and Forest avoided relegation despite having fewer points overall.<\/p>\n
Leicester and the Premier League declined to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n
