He&#8217;s only played three or four games, but he seems to be doing really well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The shot-stopper joined from Royal Antwerp for just over \u00a318m and has since established himself as Amorim&#8217;s first choice.<\/p>\n<p>Lamence has started the last five games and, despite keeping just one clean sheet, has been central to United&#8217;s development, helping to lift them to seventh place in the table and one point out of the top four.<\/p>\n<p>The goalkeeper position has been a big problem for United since David de Gea left the club in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Onana was signed as his replacement from Inter Milan for \u00a347 million, but after two seasons he failed to stake out his claim as United&#8217;s long-term keeper.<\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"body-thumbnail\" class=\"gap-tk-fx-between-elements-md flex w-full flex-col text-left focus:outline-none\">\n<div class=\"group relative w-full\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-label=\"Play video\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n<div data-testid=\"body-thumbnail-picture\" class=\"wrapper-16-9 rounded-tk-radius-rs-sm relative\">\n<figure class=\"card-hover-zoom absolute h-full w-full\">\n<div class=\"h-full w-full object-cover\" data-testid=\"blurry-image-wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"text-transparent h-full w-full object-cover\" src=\"https:\/\/imgresizer.tntsports.io\/unsafe\/1200x0\/filters:format(jpeg)\/origin-imgresizer.tntsports.io\/2025\/11\/08\/image-ae6b3c34-36dc-4a89-9cee-1499689015d6-85-2560-1440.jpeg\" alt=\"photograph\" data-testid=\"image-high-res\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"body-thumbnail-caption text-content-block-default-text-fill-03\" data-testid=\"body-thumbnail-caption\">\n<p class=\"typo-tk-rs-caption-xs\">Mbeumo puts Manchester United into the lead after &#8216;horrible&#8217; Spurs defense<\/p>\n<p class=\"typo-tk-rs-caption-xs\">Video credit: TNT Sports<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Goalkeeping was the basis of Ferguson&#8217;s success at United, with Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar both being inspirations at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>It was also the Scot who signed De Gea before he retired in 2013, and the Spaniard spent 10 years as United&#8217;s number one before leaving in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow summer signings Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have also impressed Ferguson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously the new players from Wolves and Brentford, Mbeumo and Cunha, have joined that. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hope the manager has some success, because at United we need success.
