The Premier League is yet to confirm a decision in its long-running legal battle with Manchester City over 115 financial charges, but the reasons for the postponement have been explained.<\/h2>\n

Manchester City’s sentencing on 115 financial charges has reportedly been postponed as debate over the departure of Premier League chairman Alison Britten intensifies. The seven-time Premier League champions have been embroiled in a lengthy legal battle since he was first charged in February 2023.<\/p>\n
And while there are various indications that a decision is imminent, a number of important factors are slowing the process. One of those revolves around the future of competition director Alison Brittain.<\/p>\n
According to The Independent, a number of Premier League bosses have agreed with club bosses on whether the English international should be given a further three-year term.<\/p>\n
These opinions have been shaped by developments in the legal case facing Manchester City, with the UK reportedly believed to have significant influence. This suggests that the debate over support for the current speaker is “intensifying.”<\/p>\n

However, it was further reported that the club’s opinion could be influenced by the outcome of City’s case, with some executives revealing it would be “ridiculous” to make such a significant opinion before the case was concluded.<\/p>\n
It has also been suggested that some clubs may vote against extending his term if the legal battle with City is unsuccessful. Premier League figures are also concerned about the lack of transparency in the process, with many feeling left in the dark.<\/p>\n
Asked for an update earlier this year, Premier League CEO Richard Masters said: “I can’t answer that specific question. All I can say is the system and how it works.”<\/p>\n

“So it’s essentially an independent judiciary. So once an allegation or accusation is brought, they go before an independently elected independent panel, and then they’re in charge of the process and the timing of it.”<\/p>\n
“They hear the case, they decide the outcome, and we have no influence over that, the timing of it, or the timing of it. And that’s the way it is. If you think about it from an independence standpoint, independent people are making those decisions, and we can just wait.”<\/p>\n
“The truth is that my complaint is irrelevant. It just means we have to wait. Legal proceedings rarely take longer than expected, but we have to be patient.”<\/p>\n
City continues to maintain its innocence, but an appeal cannot be ruled out once the final verdict is issued.<\/p>\n
