Thomas Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract as England manager and Jamie Carragher believes he may have found the perfect candidate to replace him within the Premier League.<\/h2>\n

Jamie Carragher believes Eddie Howe could be the next England manager to help Newcastle win as many games as possible. The former Bournemouth manager joined St James’ Park in November 2021.<\/p>\n
He had a great time at the club, avoiding relegation for two seasons in the Champions League and ending the club’s long trophy drought by winning last season’s Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n
But Carragher believes his retirement could be near and has suggested the England job could be Howe’s next port of call. Carragher told Sky Sports: “I’ve been supporting Eddie Howe as the next England manager. He’s a fantastic coach and I think he’s England’s best coach by a million miles.”<\/p>\n
\u201cI love him dearly, but after four years I don’t think Eddie Howe can do any better than what he’s done at Newcastle.<\/p>\n
“I don’t think Newcastle are going to win the Premier League, so I don’t think there’s anything more he can do. And it’s not just talking about Newcastle being a few points away from the relegation zone or questioning the manager in any way. But I think Newcastle have let him down.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe nature of a sporting director at a club is that he is behind the scenes and is always busy. Sometimes it feels like he is there alone. The huge Saudi investment has not really started.<\/p>\n
“Now they may have doubts about the PSR and the rules, which is all understandable. But when you put players like Yoan Wissa in the second half and saw how he had to cope in the summer with the[Alexander]Isak situation, I felt something.”<\/p>\n
“It’s been a real turmoil at Newcastle and when you talk about one of the greatest managers in their history, I think he deserves better.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if you think about what Eddie Howe thinks, if the England job comes up in the summer after the World Cup with Tuchel’s contract situation, I’ll be there straight away.\u201d<\/p>\n
Of course, England already have a manager in Thomas Tuchel, who has signed an 18-month contract with the FA. He will lead the Three Lions to next summer’s World Cup, but the door remains open to him extending his stay in England beyond that.<\/p>\n
