Ronaldo shared some great moments with Diogo in the Portugal national team. In an interview with Morgan, Al Nasr remembered his team-mate and described the moment he received the tragic news as “devastating”. <\/p>\n
\nI couldn’t believe it when I received the message. I cried a lot. It was a very difficult moment for everyone, for the country, for the family, for the friends, for the teammates… It was devastating. This is very, very sad news.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Cristiano was unable to attend the funerals of Diogo and his brother, which was heavily criticized by some fans, but this came as a great relief to both families. It was further revealed that CR7 had contacted them to offer respect and assistance. <\/p>\n
And to bid farewell to his team-mate, he shared a black and white photo of Diogo on his official Instagram account, in which Jota can be seen celebrating in the Portugal jersey. <\/p>\n
“It makes no sense. We were just together in the national team and you were just married. My condolences to your family, your wife and your children and I wish you all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in peace Diogo and Andre. We will all miss you,” Cristiano wrote.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old captain is preparing to continue leading the Portuguese national team to the top at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This will be his sixth time participating in this tournament, and he will aim to become the champion for his home country. <\/p>\n
