MIAMI (AP) \u2014 FIFA has announced the creation of the Peace Prize, which will be awarded during the World Cup draw on Dec. 5 in Washington.<\/p>\n

The award, called the FIFA Peace Prize, “recognizes outstanding acts for peace,” soccer’s governing body announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: “In an increasingly volatile and divided world, it is fundamental to recognize the outstanding contributions of those who strive to end conflict and unite people in a spirit of peace.”<\/p>\n

FIFA announced that the award, which Infantino will present this year, is given annually “on behalf of fans around the world.”<\/p>\n
