The 49-year-old split from Lorient following relegation to Ligue 2 and headed to the Stadium of Light in June last year.<\/p>\n<p>Signed to a three-year contract, but with few supporters aware of his short coaching stint and sparking some intrigue, Le Brice led Sunderland to promotion and into the top flight after an eight-year hiatus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Le Bris primarily focused on coaching youth until he received his professional coaching license in May 2022, 16 years before completing his PhD in Sports Physiology and Biomechanics at the University of Rennes II.<\/p>\n<p>He graduated from the same university in 2010 with a University Diploma (DU) specializing in the mental training of high-level athletes, where he published research on accelerometer-based running.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">However, it was Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger who indirectly persuaded him to become a coach during his time at Monaco.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really liked Monaco under Arsene Wenger,&#8221; Le Bris told The Sun last year. &#8220;I wasn&#8217;t really a fan, but when I was younger I liked this team and his style.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cIf a player, team or manager had a certain style, I liked analyzing the way they played, their personality&#8230; there was something different about them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a lot of young players and the aggressive style of play was refreshing. Since I was young, it was difficult for me to evaluate the various elements involved in the game. However, I think the emotional element was important and what made us different from other teams.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can look at a soccer team and think, &#8216;They&#8217;re playing well,&#8217; or &#8216;This is interesting,&#8217; but you don&#8217;t really know why. It just makes you feel something different.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a player, I probably didn\u2019t have the X-factor technically or physically, so I was interested in understanding the game.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cIf you have a special talent, you just have to use it and be good on the pitch, but I was average everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I had to think about how I could compete against stronger players, understand the game more deeply, and connect with other players to solve problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal and Le Bris had the same idea regarding Wenger and the Gunners hired him in 1996, but he went on to become one of the most iconic managers in the history of both the club and the Premier League.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/sport\/football\/2129270\/Sunderland-Regis-Le-Bris-doctorate-biomechanics-Wenger\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regis Le Bris and Sunderland could move into second place in the Premier League table with a win over Everton on Monday night, underscoring the excellent job the French head coach has done since taking over.
