Harry Kane has had the best goalscoring season of his life this season, and the England captain’s club Bayern Munich are reaping the rewards.<\/h2>\n

England captain Harry Kane continued his incredible start to the season as Bayern Munich progressed to the next round of Germany’s domestic cup, the DFB Pokal. In doing so, he helped Vincent Kompany’s side to a 14-game winning streak from the start of the season, breaking a 32-year record in Europe’s top five leagues.<\/p>\n
Kane scored twice in the 4-1 win away to Cologne, making it his second successive cup win. Bayern also won eight out of eight league games, three out of three in the Champions League, and defeated Stuttgart in the DFB Supercup, Germany’s equivalent of the Community Shield.<\/p>\n
The previous record for teams in these top five leagues was held by AC Milan. They won their first seven Serie A games of the 1992\/93 season, the first three of the Coppa Italia (when the early rounds of the competition were played over two legs), and the first three of the inaugural Champions League.<\/p>\n
An away cup draw with Cagliari ended Milan’s losing streak, but it did not prevent them from winning Round 3 on aggregate. That season, they were eliminated in the cup by Roma, and did not lose a league game until March, when they lost at home to Parma.<\/p>\n
Bayern now has the chance to extend their record and make it difficult for other teams to break it in the future. They host Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday before returning to action against holders Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

After Cologne’s win, Kane said: “The first 30 minutes were not easy.” \u201cWe had a chance to take the lead, they scored first but we reacted very well.<\/p>\n
“It was very important for us to take the lead before half-time. In the second half we were able to play more of our style of football. After they started to tire, we had more space, so we took advantage of that. We have enjoyed a good period and we have to maintain this feeling and winning mentality.”<\/p>\n
Kane has scored an astonishing 22 goals in just 14 appearances this season. He has scored 12 in 8 Bundesliga games, 4 in 2 Cups, 5 in 3 European Cups and 1 in the DFB Super Cup victory.<\/p>\n
The former Tottenham Hotspur star was asked about the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or during his October international break, when he continued to find his goals.<\/p>\n

“Of course I would like to win the Ballon d’Or, but essentially it is a team trophy won by the best individual in the team,” he said. “So unless we win the biggest competition, this time it’s going to be a Champions League win or a World Cup win. I definitely want to win it. It’s going to be a series of great things both individually and as a team. It’s going to be an almost perfect season.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Kane’s wife is happy in Germany and keen for her husband to remain in Bavaria, even as his chances of returning to the Premier League next summer are in doubt. Kate is enjoying her current lifestyle, especially the privacy afforded to her in Munich and her four children.<\/p>\n
Kane expressed personal satisfaction with his situation, admitting:<\/p>\n
“My kids are in school and they love it. My wife feels very comfortable there too. We’re really enjoying every second of it.”<\/p>\n
Therefore, potential suitors wanting to bring Kane back to England after the World Cup may need to look elsewhere.<\/p>\n
