Real Madrid are said to be confident of signing Marc Gehi against Liverpool, despite Bayern Munich and Barcelona joining the race for his signature. The reigning Premier League champions tried to sign the Crystal Palace captain on transfer deadline day this summer but failed.<\/p>\n
Guehi, 25, is scheduled to become a free agent after this season. Palace manager Oliver Glasner has already confirmed his captain will leave the south London club next year.<\/p>\n
Although this winter is the last chance to collect the transfer fee, there is no consideration for a mid-season transfer. Guehi could sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club as early as January 1, giving Liverpool’s European rivals an advantage.<\/p>\n

The Sun claimed that Madrid believe the defender wants to play alongside Jude Bellingham for club and country and is supportive of a move to the Spanish capital. The club are said to be confident they can persuade the central defender to join them over other options.<\/p>\n
Liverpool were reportedly keen to sign a central defender in the January transfer window and were planning to approach Guehi in the summer when he becomes a free agent. After missing out on Guehi, who remains the Reds’ top target, Slott ruled Giovanni Leoni will miss the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.<\/p>\n
Manager Arne Slott selected his back three of Andy Robertson, Joe Gomez and Wataru Endo for the 3-0 loss to Palace in the League Cup fourth round. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk were both omitted from the match-day squad.<\/p>\n

Slott later lamented the lack of depth. He claimed that there are only 15 players available for the team, with the rest being filled by teenagers within the academy.<\/p>\n
But they are not the only club believed to be keen to sign the defender in January. Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that Bayern are active in the market, although prioritizing signing Dayot Upamecano.<\/p>\n
It was reported earlier this month that Gehi’s agent had already flown to Germany to hold preliminary transfer talks with Bayern.<\/p>\n
“It’s clear that we, as Bayern Munich, are exploring the market,” Hebert told DAZN. \u201cOur clear goal is to extend our contract with Upa, that is our ultimate goal.<\/p>\n
“If it doesn’t work out, we have to be prepared. We would be foolish not to. That’s why. I haven’t confirmed anything, but we are active in the market.”<\/p>\n
