The Owls&#8217; position in the second division is already precarious following the punishment for joining the administration, but the situation could worsen further. The club could face additional penalties after former owner Digifone Chansiri failed to pay staff salaries on time during his tenure.<\/p>\n<p>Chansiri&#8217;s 10-year ownership of the club ended last week when it went into administration. As a result, the EFL automatically imposed a 12 point deduction in accordance with the rules agreed between the clubs in 2004, leaving the Owls at the bottom of the division with -6 points. As of this weekend&#8217;s game, they are 16 points behind Blackburn Rovers, who sit in 21st place, just above the relegation zone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Times said the club could receive an additional two point deduction. In June, the EFL announced that it had begun legal action against the club for failing to pay staff salaries on time in March and May.<\/p>\n<p data-mce-linkchecker-status=\"valid\">Although the EFL has not confirmed this, it is understood that a date has been set for an independent disciplinary panel to hear the case on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>If the committee determines that a penalty is warranted, it may impose a range of sanctions, including further deductions.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, if this case is resolved, other claims for June, July and September salary delays will also be scrutinized by the EFL. Even though the price is the same, the handling is different.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Under rule changes implemented this summer, their complaints will now be heard by the EFL&#8217;s Club Financial Review Panel, rather than an independent disciplinary committee. They may also impose additional deductions.<\/p>\n<p>Both cases must be adjudicated and concluded before the end of this season. If a point penalty is imposed, it will affect the current campaign.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible that some of the points penalties will be suspended, but either way the Owls face an uphill battle to remain in the championship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>To make matters worse, they won&#8217;t even be able to invest in new players in the January transfer window.
