Liverpool manager Arne Slott said before kick-off that these statistics did not tell the full story of Wirtz’s contribution.<\/p>\n

“In soccer, people always judge players by assists and goals. And he was very unlucky. He could have had three, four, five, six assists,” Slott told DAZN.<\/p>\n

“Even in the last game (against Manchester United), it wasn’t an assist or a goal from him, but probably the most important part of the goal was from him. The part before the assist, if you want to call it that. So Florian has had a good start at Liverpool, but if you just look at the goals and assists you might have a different opinion. But that’s not my opinion.”<\/p>\n
