Rumors of a potential new investor for Manchester United have resurfaced, with a takeover potentially influencing several decisions on and off the pitch.<\/h2>\n

Manchester United takeover speculation resurfaced during the October international break. Rumors about Middle East investment are nothing new. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani was looking to buy the club outright before Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos invested \u00a3300m in the club last year.<\/p>\n
However, US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) documents reveal that the Qatari bankers were unable to prove proof of the funds. Eighteen months later, Saudi government official Turki al-Sheikh declared that “United is currently in the process of finalizing a sale agreement to a new investor.” But he later clarified that the investor was neither himself nor from Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
Claims of interest from a UAE-backed consortium have similarly sparked takeover speculation surrounding the club. Such an investment would have a dramatic impact on and off the field, just as it did when Ineos became a co-owner. With that in mind, Mirror Football is considering five possible developments following a future acquisition.<\/p>\n

Debt decision<\/h3>\n
The new investment could allow the club to become debt-free again for the first time since the Glazers’ acquisition. Borrowings now stand at more than \u00a3750m, nearing an all-time high.<\/p>\n
If the wealthy consortium were able to eliminate these debts, United Airlines would save on maintenance costs and increase its chances of earning a profit after years of significant losses. This would also help them comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) regulations, allowing them to spend more on transfer fees and wages and improve their competitiveness on the pitch.<\/p>\n

Had the investment arrived before the summer transfer window closed, Carlos Baleva could have already become a United player. Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly asked for \u00a3100m for the midfielder, with United reluctant to sign the Cameroon international.<\/p>\n
Baleba is said to be keen on a move to the club, with compatriot Brian Mbeumo reportedly using the international break to persuade him to join next year. Additional funds to negotiate with Brighton would increase United’s chances of signing the central midfielder they desperately need. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also an option to consider.<\/p>\n
Marcus Rashford makes a U-turn<\/h3>\n
Acquisitions may also lead to changes in future performance. Marcus Rashford may consider a return if further investment shows United can once again provide a more stable environment.<\/p>\n
Barcelona have the option of signing the player permanently at the end of this season. Any such reintegration would therefore depend on them rejecting the opportunity, just as Aston Villa did.<\/p>\n
If that happens, new investors could pave the way for a resurgence, especially as the increased investment means current salaries are less of a financial burden than last season.<\/p>\n

old trafford financing<\/h3>\n
Additional investment could help answer the question of how a new stadium to replace Old Trafford will be financed. Requests for government support for widespread development may be moot if new investors are able to cover the entire cost.<\/p>\n
The impending acquisition could also result in changes in time to influence plans before the consortium begins work on the project. The club will ultimately want some input into how the funds are spent on a brand new home, especially if a significant portion of the investment goes towards construction, whether direct or indirect.<\/p>\n
Change in position on Reuben Amorim<\/h3>\n
Ineos and investors reducing Ratcliffe’s influence could tip the scales over Ruben Amorim’s future at Old Trafford. Although the head coach has recently gained support from the public, that attitude may change if the club’s top management changes.<\/p>\n
The investment could make it more viable for United to part ways with Amorim and his coaching staff at a relatively early stage in the deal. Ineos is currently in charge of football operations after the Glazers took over that responsibility, but it appears they have no interest in managing that aspect. However, new investors may want a similar level of control.<\/p>\n
