The Daily Record has revealed that Muscat, who is involved in a three-way battle for the Chinese Super League title, has agreed terms to replace Russell Martin.

The club moved closer to retaining the title with a thrilling 4-3 win over Qingdao on Friday morning, but wins by Chengdu Rongcheng and Shanghai Shenya are likely to extend the title race until the final day on November 22nd. It appears Andrew Cavenagh and the Rangers boss will definitely wait until the end of the Chinese Super League campaign to take over his role, but the Australian has agreed and has indicated he is in no rush. Leave your current club.

After the match, Muscat turned his attention to the final stages of the season and progress to the AFC Champions League amidst a crowded fixture list.

He said, “It’s true that the schedule is very congested. Once we return, we will make a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the team and players. Based on our normal preparations, we may rotate players to some extent.”

“Aside from the upcoming AFC Champions League Elite League, we have an important match on the 26th of this month, and the team will be fully prepared for it.

“Overall, this win was very important for us. The commitment and attitude of the players on the field showed that everyone was aware of the impact of this result.

“We could have done better in some aspects, especially in terms of taking chances, but considering it was an away game, we scored a lot of goals and in the end we were able to go back to Shanghai with three points. The whole team is very happy and very happy.”

Muscat also gave Rangers supporters a glimpse of what they can expect from the team when they finally arrive in Glasgow.

The 52-year-old claimed his team had been overly “conservative” despite an impressive seven goals, adding: “We analyzed this before the game and we knew that neither team could afford to lose, so we were ready to face the difficulties.

“We knew that in the second half they would attack more aggressively, but we would also leave room for a counterattack.

“If I have to sum it up, it’s that we were a bit conservative at times and as a result we were defensively deep and gave our opponents time to hold onto the ball and build their attack.”

Source link

Rangers’ incoming head coach Kevin Muscat has given a revealing reaction to his move to Ibrox after his side inched closer to the Chinese Championship against Shanghai Port.
