GENEVA (AP) \u2014 The Champions League title holders will play their showcase opening home game as part of the UEFA club competition’s new commercial deal from the 2027-28 season, which includes a global streaming deal worth more than 5 billion euros ($5.8 billion) in annual revenue.<\/p>\n
This is one innovation to achieve the following objectives 6-year rights sales agreement<\/span> UEFA and european soccer club group<\/span>and the joint venture vehicle, known as UC3, revealed on Monday.<\/p>\nRelevent is also exploring global streaming services (such as Netflix, Apple TV+ or Amazon Prime) where you can purchase a premium package or first selection of matches each week the Champions League is played.<\/p>\n
UC3 and Relevent said in a joint statement that the deal should be for 17 games throughout the season, including Saturday’s final, to “meet new consumer and viewer trends and expand the reach of a growing number of competitions.”<\/p>\n

The first Tuesday match in September 2027 will determine the champion who will host the only match of the night in the 36-team competition. The remaining games in the opening week will be split between Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n
“The reigning champion will begin his title defense in a solo match in front of his home fans,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
The tender offer, launched on Monday, also includes a four-year deal for five major European media markets: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
Relevent also promises a “new approach to sponsorship” that is likely to attract a wider range of buyers to game broadcasts.<\/p>\n
The 800-member EFC Group, UEFA and Relevent expect total revenue from broadcasting, sponsorship and licensing deals for each season of European club competitions to exceed at least 5 billion euros ($5.8 billion) in 2027-2028.<\/p>\n
Revenue for the three seasons to 2027 will be at least 4.4 billion euros, with around 2.5 billion euros going to a prize fund shared by the 36 Champions League teams.<\/p>\n
The total prize money this season for the second division Europa League is 565 million euros ($653 million), and for the third division Conference League it is 285 million euros.<\/p>\n
Relevent’s role in European football<\/h2>\n
