The Glazer family will consider offers of more than \u00a35bn for a stake in Manchester United. That’s more than double the British giant’s value on the stock market.<\/p>\n
Despite United’s announcement, speculation is mounting that Saudi Arabian billionaire Turki Al-Sheikh is launching a takeover bid for United. However, Tolchi would need to start bidding around \u00a35.2 billion to have a realistic chance of convincing the Glazers to sell.<\/p>\n
Florida businessmen took control of United 20 years ago in a deal worth \u00a3790m. United are currently worth \u00a32bn. But the Glazers will likely command a huge premium, reflecting the potential for United’s value to rise in the future.<\/p>\n
This would take into account how much United would be worth if the club completed its plans to build a new state-of-the-art stadium.<\/p>\n
One option left for the Glazer family is to sell part of their 48.9% stake in United in exchange for a significant investment from Saudi Arabia to fund a new stadium.<\/p>\n

In March, United leaders announced plans to regenerate the surrounding area and build a 100,000-seater stadium at a cost of around \u00a32 billion, which will be one of the best on the planet.<\/p>\n
However, it is understood that United Airlines is not yet at the stage where it has secured the necessary funding for this ambitious project. The Glazers rejected a takeover bid by Sheikh Jassim Al Thani’s Qatari coalition in 2024, instead selling a 27.7 per cent stake in the club to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS empire.<\/p>\n
Ratcliffe was paid \u00a31.25 billion and allowed to take charge of football operations at Old Trafford. Although United announced record profits of around \u00a3670m in June, they have been forced to make significant job cuts and are still in dire need of a cash injection.<\/p>\n

United have refused to comment on the possibility of signing Souadis, but Ratcliffe insists he remains fully committed to the club.<\/p>\n
The Glazer family continues to be involved with the club on a daily basis. However, there is nothing to prevent a club from negotiating a sale of its shares without the knowledge of other shareholders.<\/p>\n
Turki, who is heavily involved in boxing, snooker, golf and the UFC, claimed on social media that United were at an “advanced stage” of completing a sale deal to a new investor.<\/p>\n
