Chelsea supporters have been waiting to see Moises Caicedo reach his full potential – and this year the Ecuadorian star has done just that.

What’s the surprising spark behind his newfound offensive confidence? The message that followed him all the way from South America to Stamford Bridge:
“Hit the shot where you aim.” That was the advice his father drilled into him when he was a child. And now Caicedo has used that to become one of Chelsea’s most influential players this season.

From defensive engine to scoring threat
Primarily known as a ball-winning midfielder, Caicedo has greatly expanded his game. With four goals in all competitions, he has already doubled his previous record for goals in England and is Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer this season.

The 24-year-old says he immediately thinks of home every time the ball hits the back of the net. “My father always told me that I have to shoot on target because I have a lot of potential to score,” Caicedo explained. “I tried to listen to my dad. That’s why I’m shooting now. When I score a goal, I think of my dad. I owe it to my dad.”
His confidence was on full display in Chelsea’s 1-0 derby win over Tottenham, where he dominated the midfield and scored the only goal of the match.
A journey fueled by sacrifice and growth
Caicedo’s rise to power has not been easy. When he arrived in England in 2021 to join Brighton, he was alone and separated from his family in Ecuador for the first time in his life. “It was very difficult when I got here,” Caicedo said. “But now I’m living the dream.”
Two years after his hugely successful move to Chelsea, the midfielder continues to approach the game with humility and greed. “I want to improve every day, because learning never stops…I’m performing well, but I need to improve in every training, every match.”
Caicedo’s arrival has sparked a turnaround for Chelsea, who have racked up important wins in the Premier League but have lost just once in their last eight competitive matches. Momentum and confidence is building with Wolves coming to Stamford Bridge this weekend.
