Haaland blasts City-Tottenham refereeing, and Guardiola

]It was not the best Sunday of Erling Haaland’s life. The Norwegian was furious after what happened in the closing stages of City’s game against Tottenham.

Simon Hooper, the match referee, disallowed a move in which Grealish was through on goal, only to signal advantage to Manchester City.

After the whistle was blown, Haaland, who was the passer and recipient of the foul, was in disbelief.

His response was immediate as it was practically the last play of the game and the play could have seen City go ahead 4-3.

Enraged, the cameras focused on him after the final whistle and showed an irate Norwegian forward completely out of control.

He did not hesitate to post on his X account (formerly Twitter) after the match, quoting the video of the play.

“Wtf,” he wrote, incredulous.

Pep Guardiola was also furious

Whilst the Spanish coach also showcased some rather excessively aggressive behavior on the touchline, he was dismissive of the officials in his post-match interview.

“I don’t want to criticize the referees,” he admitted.

“Sometimes on the touchline I lose my mind, but here I don’t like to comment. We didn’t draw because of that.

Then he remembered Arteta.

“Next question. I’ll not do a Mikel Arteta comment,” he added.

“It’s hard when you review the image, the referee decides to blow the whistle after he’s already said play on. After the pass, the whistle, I don’t understand.

When talking about Haaland’s reaction, he defended his player.

“Normal. He’s a little bit disappointed. Even the referee, if he was playing for Manchester City today, he would be disappointed with that action,” the tactician added.
