Everton linked with shock deadline day move

Everton are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Ghana international Andre Ayew on a free transfer.

The Toffees are in need of some firepower after they parted ways with winger Anthony Gordon this week.

21-year-old Gordon completed his move to Newcastle United for a reported fee of £45 million.

On transfer deadline day, Everton have been working around the clock in order to provide new manager Sean Dyche with a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League.

The likes of Michy Batshuayi, Conor Gallagher and Moussa Dembele have all been linked with a move to Goodison Park.

According to French news outlet L’Equipe, Ayew is now in advanced talks with Everton ahead of a potential deadline day transfer.

The 33-year-old has previously played in the Premier League for West Ham United and Swansea.

Ayew left England for Turkey where he spent one season on loan with Super Lig side Fenerbahce.

In the last two seasons, Ayew has been playing in Qatar for Al Sadd.

The Ghanaian was included in Ghana’s 2022 World Cup squad and scored against Portugal.

However, reports in the English media have denied that Ayew is in talks with Everton.

New Toffees boss Dyche will be hoping the club can get a couple of new faces in as they are in a torrid run of form which has left them 19th in the Premier League table.

Upon joining the club, Dyche said: “What I would say is we want to put out a team that works, that can fight and wear the badge with pride, beyond just the tactical and technical side.

“Of course, they’re massive parts of the game but – I’ve got to learn this – the feel of the fans here, they don’t mind the ball being put at risk or playing forward.”

Will Everton stay in the Premier League? Only time will tell.
