The Daily Mail are following up on this morning’s reports on Chelsea interest in Emile Smith Rowe by claiming that Chelsea have had their opening offer for the attacking midfielder rejected.
The Gunners are open to selling Smith Rowe, but don’t want to do so to a direct rival. They clearly have a different stance to Chelsea, who sold players to Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal themselves earlier this summer.
Perhaps it’s just a question of money, but so far it doesn’t see like this one is happening. There are plenty of Chelsea fans who won’t be too upset by this news. In fact, many will be hoping that their team don’t return with another offer.
There’s plenty of young unproven talent in attacking positions already, and if the club want to sign a new player there, they had better be sure they are going to be a top class, guaranteed starter.
