Chelsea have just received some pretty gutting news this afternoon finding out they have now lost a key player for what is likely to be many months.
Wesley Fofana faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing ACL cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery today.
Sources: Chelsea’s midfield plans as West Ham come in for Conor Gallagher!

Gutted for Fofana, who has had terrible luck with injuries. Long spell on the sidelines ahead and worst possible timing for #CFC and also ahead of Euro 2024. pic.twitter.com/Im1VmQ6ctF

This is obviously a huge blow for Chelsea to lose one of their expensive signings from last summer, right ahead of a new season starting.
It has also left them considering dipping into the transfer market to sign a new player in a position that they would not have been looking to sign in before this came to light, the centre backs.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, who’s tweet on it can be found below, Chelsea will explore the centre backs market in the next days/weeks after Wesley Fofana’s injury, but only acting if they find the right option.

I am sure all options will be considered here.
