Progress has been good on the pitch for Chelsea in this preseason, and there were yet more glimmers of good news around the game in Atlanta last night.
The increasingly reliable Nathan Gissing has picked up the whiff of good news around Benoit Badiashile, the defender who injured his hamstring right at the death of last season and has so far not been able to train with the squad at all since then.
Badiashile’s recovery from his hamstring injury is going faster than expected.
He is currently ahead of schedule & is expected to return to individual training in the next week.

Gissing says his recovery is going “faster than expected” and that the club have set a target of the third game of the season (against Luton) which he could be fit for.
There is no enormous need to rush him back – even with Wesley Fofana out we have a Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill partnership which should be strong. But it’s a blow for the whole team to have a potentially key player missing these preseason training sessions and friendlies with the new coach in charge, and the sooner Badiashile returns the better for everyone.
