Chelsea were one of the teams interested in Luka Vuskovic, Tottenham’s new signing, Nizaar Kinsella reported in the Evening Standard this evening.
The acquisition of 16 year old Vuskovic is described as a “major coup” for Tottenham, given they had to compete not only with prolific transfer addicts Chelsea, but also PSG, Man City and Liverpool to land the defender.
In much the same way that Chelsea have with some of their recent signings, Tottenham have agreed to allow the teenager to remain with his current club Hajduk Split until 2025 when he turns 18.
Todd Boehly and co. will accept that they can’t sign literally every young talent on the planet, but it’s interesting to hear that they had such concrete interest in another talent. Clearly, despite all the spending already in the last 12 months, the project to hoover up every good player available under 20 continues.
Let’s hope this kid doesn’t turn out to be the best of them all.
