90min are on a run of reporting exclusives, and they have some interesting news about the summer window just past.
They claim that the Blues were among the top teams – including Real Madrid – who made the initial moves to try and sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle.
Guimaraes signed for the Magpies back in January 2022 as a highly rated player and has looked consistently brilliant, helping them to a strong finish last season and building up further caps with Brazil.
Newcastle can offer him a huge contract and Champions League football. It’s hard to see why he would turn that down to come to Chelsea, especially in our current state.
The subsequent signings of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo have probably ended the chances of this deal ever being done in any case – let’s hope they live up to expectations. They’ve got a job on their hands matching Bruno’s impressive performances.
