Odegaard’s display of solidarity has exemplified the unity within Arsenal’s ranks as they face the challenges of the new season.
Timber may have managed just a single Premier League appearance for Arsenal before suffering a significant knee injury in the win over Nottingham Forest, but he has quickly become an admired figure among his teammates.
His season took a turn for the worse when he went down with a knee injury, which was later confirmed to require surgery for an ACL injury.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, now faces the challenge of navigating the 2023/23 season without Timber.
The blow was significant, but the club and team captain Martin Odegaard were determined to pay a touching tribute to their Dutch defender.
On Monday night, Odegaard held up Timber’s shirt in both the pre-match and post-match team pictures.
The gesture touched Timber deeply, who shared the image on his Instagram with the simple word “Team,” followed by heartfelt emojis. Fellow teammate Reiss Nelson also acknowledged Timber’s influence within the squad by sharing the picture.
Following the injury, Arteta expressed his concern but also his commitment to finding the necessary reinforcements.
“It is a huge blow. Especially for him after just joining the club,” Arteta said. “We recruited him with clear intentions, and what he was bringing to the team was evident. I’m more thinking about the resources in the team to do what we want to do. But it’s true he was giving us a lot on both sides.”
Arsenal‘s unity has been a prominent theme this season. This latest display within the squad is a reflection of the team’s positive spirit and highlights their ambition to compete for the Premier League title.
