Another Champions League team joins the chase for Kepa

The huge news that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has ruptured his ACL in training and will likely miss the whole season is a classic August spanner in the works of the transfer window.

It changes everything for Madrid, and will likely lead to a domino effect around Europe. Bayern Munich are already searching for a new number one as Manuel Neuer struggles to recover from a broken leg, and now another Champions League giant are in the mix.

Inevitably, given he’s Spanish and Chelsea are trying to sell him, Kepa Arrizabalaga is immediately being linked with a move to Real. Nizaar Kinsella is claiming that the Spanish club are considering a “loan to buy” approach for him similar to the one that Bayern were apparently considering.

It would all create a rather nice circularity – Chelsea bought Kepa in a panic after Courtois forced his move to Real. Now, the Spaniard could be following the Belgian to the Spanish capital.
